Pets react to a Sasquatch/Bigfoot

Witness Observation

It was late June or early July in, I believe 1999. I was invited to stay with some former neighbors  on their farm. They had just had a house put on their farm. I thought it was great that I was going to get to spend some time on my neighbor’s farm for a few days. I loved hunting, fishing and roaming the woods. The farm consisted of about 20 acres and woods surrounded the entire area with a couple of ponds and two abandoned houses (shacks) in the woods. An electric barbed wire fence surrounded the farm to keep the cows in, and their yard was also surrounded by a 3-foot high electric fence to keep them away from the house. It was pretty hot at that time of year and they didn’t have their air conditioners working yet, so we had to sleep with the windows opened. I was sleeping in the room on a couch fold out bed with windows behind and a little to the side of the bed. At around 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning I was awakened by a deep loud raspy breathing outside the window. It continued for at least 3 to 5 minutes, but at the time seemed like an eternity. I believe that the uninvited visitor was watching me sleep. This was the most terrifying moment of my life still to this day. I was paralyzed with fear and did not want to move or breath. I managed to force myself to slowly inch my way to the side of the bed away from the window. I did not want the intruder to notice me moving. I did my best not to move my head and breathed as shallow as I possibly could, as I was too scared to move. I kept trying to see what it was by looking out the side of my eyes but I couldn’t see anything. I was so terrified that this thing was going to break through the screen. At that point the mantle clock on the other side of the house chimed and almost gave me a heart attack, but also frightened this thing away. That clock seemed so loud. I felt like that clock saved my life. I didn’t hear anything, no footsteps or anything else; it was like it just wasn’t there anymore. About 30 seconds later I began to hear a night bird chirping and the neighbor’s 6 to 7 month old Labrador crawl out from under the house. As soon as I heard regular noises outside I jumped up and look outside, but saw nothing. I know nobody was playing a joke because I could hear my old neighbors snoring in the other room.

At that time I was interested in Bigfoot, but had no idea they were in this part of the country. Their house was a wooden framed house and the windows were at least five and half feet off the ground. The dog was a pretty good-sized hyperactive Labrador puppy that normally barked at people and chased animals. I know that he was hiding from whatever it was outside. I don’t know what it could have been other than Bigfoot. As a side note: I’m a very heavy sleeper and I snore very loud. I’ve even woken myself on several occasions. I believe my snoring may have attracted Bigfoot that night.

  1. I have dogs and cats in and around my home. We live out in the wilderness. I have dealt with every animal native to North America. When we get the odd Bear, panther, coyote or fox the dog’s never stop barking. The cats will pace the windows and are all generally curious or agitated… But, every now and again we’ll get those events where “something” will pass through that almost sounds like a panther or coyote, but not quite. The calls are just deeper and the dogs and cats go quiet and slip under the bed or into their houses until the “mimic” calls finally fade away…

That’s when I know that it wasn’t actually a panther, coyote or anything else I have experienced wandering the Woodlands of my home region…

  2. There is a County in Tennessee near Chattanooga named Sequatchie County. It was named after Sasquatch by the Cherokee Indians.

    1. Yes and there is Susquehanna Pennsylvania also. I don’t know if it was named after bigfoot though, just saying.

  3. Who cares about what the dog is doing at the time! Seems like one of those lucky encounters with a Bigfoot. BTW, keep your dogs on a leash when your roaming the countryside.

  4. The dog reactions to Bigfoot seem similar to what I saw on a Nat Geo television series about the Bigfoot yeti in the Himalayan mountains. 大脚 is Bigfoot in Chinese.

  5. Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I’m very glad to see such wonderful info being shared freely out there.

  6. I am glad for writing to make you be aware of what a great experience I had reading through your webblog. I discovered a good number of things, most notably what it is like to possess an incredible coaching nature to make others easily know certain complicated subject areas. You really did more than readers’ expected results. Thanks for showing these productive, healthy, revealing and as well as easy to understand on the topic.

  7. Hello, nice posts concerning bigfoot/yeti, we’re all be familiar with your site as an impressive source of facts.

  8. You face more danger from your neighbor’s vicious dog than you do from a Bigfoot, from what I have seen, so why shoot such a magnificent creature who has survived for centuries against almost impossible odds?

  9. Wow, amazing weblog layout! How long have you been blogging for?
you made blogging look easy. The entire look of your website is wonderful, as neatly as the content!

  10. Yeah, WordPress is the one that this is built on and I wouldn’t use the template website grids for a real website like this.

  11. This is a topic that is near to my heart…
Many thanks! Exactly where are your contact details though?

  12. Bigfoot will feed on deer, elk, moose, grizzly, wolf, etc and don’t think nuthin about a dog attackin’ .

  13. Excellent method of explaining, Why would you have your dogs outside at night, so they can be eaten…

  14. Great article. that would freak me out. and my dog. my dog lets me know when there around. he wants nothing to do with them.

  15. The reason the dog didn’t do anything is the same reason why every dog who encounters bigfoot freezes. INFRASONIC sound..the same sound that lions and bears use to paralyze and confuse their prey.

  16. Sasquatch stick out if they don’t mind it if they didn’t nobody would know there around . people know when there around just by them being close but out of sight . if people can feel that dogs can to and Sasquatch has a way to let whatever know its not happy there in its territory
